Luis Suarez has given Barcelona an injury scare ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester United.
The 32-year-old scored one and provided another as Barca won 4-1 at Real Betis on Sunday evening, before having to be taken off in the dying stages.
LaLiga’s leaders have now confirmed that Suarez sustained a sprained ankle that will rule him out of action for Uruguay and the remainder of March.
Barcelona said in a statement: “Tests carried out on Monday morning have confirmed that first team player Luis Suarez has a sprained right ankle.
“He will be out for 10-15 days and will now undertake his recovery with the FC Barcelona medical team, having been withdrawn from the Uruguayan national team squad.”
Barca will be hoping Suarez makes a straightforward recovery given they travel to Old Trafford for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against United on April 10.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side head to the Nou Camp for the return fixture on April 16.
