RENFREW boss Colin Clark believes that any restrictions imposed on football are worth putting up with to ensure that the game returns.

Adult football clubs across the country can return to the pitch for organised matches this weekend.

Local friendlies are allowed from Saturday, if clubs receive the necessary permit from the relevant authorities, however supporters have not yet been given permission to return.

It will be very different for players and coaches on a matchday as well with changing facilities only acceptable to use if social distancing will be in place and showers are not yet allowed to be turned on, with other guidelines outlined in a Scottish FA document.

Speaking to Gazette Sport, Clark said that he hopes the club can make the most of the facilities that he has at his disposal at New Western Park.

He continued: “We’ve got four changing rooms lying there empty so we could have five in each changing room at a social distance.

“It wouldn’t be an issue having fans in our ground and have them all the way around the park and still have the same amount of people in rather than them all congregating in the one section.

“They had the test event at Murrayfield so they’ll use that as a benchmark for how they go forward.

“There’s obviously going to be restrictions on things and the social club at the ground would probably be affected.

“It’s better than not having football at all. It’s never going to get back in the short term - you’re probably looking at way into next year for any normality.”

The Frew Gaffer also revealed that he has his pre-season schedule lined up ahead of the league getting underway in October.

He added: “We’ve got four friendlies lined up just now, possibly five, so all going to plan we’ll have them before we start.”

Elsewhere, Renfrew will face either Bonnyrigg Rose or Newtongrange in the Second Round of TheSoccerShop Challenge Cup after receiving a bye in Round One.

The Frew face the winner of the tie at New Western Park on November 21.
