JOHNSTONE Burgh manager Jamie McKim has revealed that he only plans to bring in two or three players ahead of the club's debut season in the West of Scotland League.

The Keanie Park team have joined 67 out of 68 Junior sides in the West in making the switch to the Senior set-up in a new tier six league, which will begin next season.

This term, Burgh had won 13 out 14 League Two games and looked set for the title, trailing top side Vale of Leven by eight points and having ten games in hand.

And while it remains uncertain what will happen to the current - and final - Juniors campaign, McKim is already looking ahead to life in Senior football.

He said: “I’ve been in contact with all of my players in regards to getting things sorted for next season and what their thoughts are and looking at their commitment to the club for next season.

“We’ll start looking towards speaking to the guys that we’re looking at bringing in as well.

“We’re only looking at bringing in maybe two or three players maximum just to strengthen, but that will depend on the league that we go into.

“I just hope over the next week or two there’s some sort of clarity on what’s happening with finishing the Junior season this year and what kind of league we’re looking at next year.

“You need to know what you’re preparing for and what the competition is going to be."

McKim added: “Our squad was built to be at the top of the division in League Two and I thought carrying on into League One we’d have been one of the top sides in there as well. If they are going to bring in Premiership and Championship squads then maybe we need that extra bit of quality.”

Meanwhile, Johnstone Burgh have joined the ‘Donate A Ticket’ campaign, which gives supporters the chance to give the value of their match ticket directly to the club.

Fans can donate the concession price of £2.50, the adult entry fee of £5, a super donation at £25 or enter their own amount.

The Burgh would have faced Vale of Clyde at Keanie Park this weekend, but with the season brought to an end it’s income that will be missed out on.
