Barrhead’s Niamh Junner clinched an impressive bronze medal at the Austrian Karate Champions Cup to set herself up for a big 2020.
Competing at under-21 level for the first time, Junner made light work of her opponents in the early rounds, securing a 3-1 victory in the first before an impressive 6-0 win in the second.
The 18-year-old’s progress was halted by a 1-0 loss to Under-21 World Championship silver medalist Lora Ziller but she picked herself back up in the Repechage to secure a well-deserved bronze.
Junner now turns her attention to next month’s U-21 European Championships in Budapest.
