Labelled the ‘future of MMA’ after a stunning win earlier this year, Barrhead’s Sean Clancy Jr has done his reputation no harm with another impressive stoppage last weekend.
The 17-year-old took to the octagon for his third bout, facing a former nine-time world kickboxing champion in 16-year-old Zack Marshall at the Rise and Conquer event in Sunderland.
Clancy Jr steamrolled his last opponent, Iceland’s Jon Ingi, with a second round TKO before telling Barrhead Sport that it is only a matter of time until he will be the “best ever.”
And the St Luke’s High School pupil moved to three wins from three amateur outings with another stoppage, this time via an unorthodox rear choke – a move which the youngster pioneered.

With the backing and tutelage of experienced MMA coach James Doolan at
Edinburgh-based gym Higher Level, Clancy Jr’s meteoric rise through the division continues to pick up pace, with his latest win moving him into the top 100 lightweights in the UK and Ireland.
The Barrhead teen occupies 61st spot in the rankings.
Currently looking to line up four bouts for 2020 and with three big wins already in the bag, a number of promotion companies are now sniffing around the talented brawler.
