Jack Harper has completed his £1.5m move from Malaga to Getafe, signing a bumper five-year deal with the La Liga side.

The Scottish striker, whose parents swapped Barrhead for the Costa del Sol, has spent the majority of his career in the Spanish capital with a six-year spell at Real Madrid's academy.

The 23-year-old, who also recently spent two years in the youth system at English side Brighton and Hove Albion, netted four goals in 26 appearances for Malaga in La Liga 2 last season.

A number of fine displays from the youngster helped Malaga into the promotion play-offs where they fell at the semi-final stage against Deportivo La Coruna.

But Harper, who has been tipped for a call up to the Scottish senior side under new boss Steve Clarke, is still set to shine in the top league, with Getafe enjoying their best La Liga campaign last season, finishing fifth - just two points away from a Champions League spot.

Wishing his former club well on social media, Harper Tweeted: "I can only thank you for the support you gave me from the first day I arrived at the youth team until the last match with the first team.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to play for the club of my homeland, to grow with you. It has been a real source of pride.

"I am convinced that with all the people that surround Malaga - players, technical staff, medical staff, ground staff, kitchen staff and especially the support - this great club will very soon be in the top division, where they deserve to be."
