After putting together an entire squad within a month of taking over the reigns at Dunterlie last summer, Duncan Sinclair knows a thing or two about a hectic transfer window.

The Arthurlie boss joined in June last year, just one month before their first competitive fixture in the Sectional League Cup, with less than 10 players on the books.

And, fresh from a successful season that saw the club record a number of emphatic wins while taking the race for a promotion spot down to their final game, Sinclair insists he is grateful to have the time to be more calculated in his approach once the window opens on June 1.

“We’ve got a lot of time now to ensure we bring in the right standard of player,” Sinclair told Barrhead Sport. “There’s absolutely no rush for us so we need to make sure we get it right.

“There isn’t just one key area we need to improve, though. We want to improve all over the park.

“We might not be able to bring in everyone we’re looking at but we want to bolster the squad ahead of another big push next season.

“One of the main things is we can be more particular now in our search to bring in the right boys - that is a big bonus for us.

“A lot of the teams across the country still have a good few matches left which provides us with an opportunity to get out and watch some of the guys we want to bring in.”

And while Sinclair watched on as his team brought down the curtain on their 2018/19 season last weekend with a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Kilsyth Rangers, the gaffer praised his side and is confident Lie will be able to sustain their push for promotion next season.

The Dunterlie Park club were in the race for a promotion spot along with Cumbernauld and Rossvale until that final match last week.

He added: “Looking back at the season as a whole, the guys have been absolutely brilliant.

“It was difficult to build an entire team within the space of about four weeks which is exactly what we did. I have mentioned it before but we started with a threadbare squad.

“The credit goes to all the players. We’ve gone through 28 players throughout the season and they have all been outstanding. I really can’t praise them enough. We’ve not had the luxury of building this squad over the years so to go and push for promotion all the way has been absolutely brilliant.”
