A LAST minute strike from Paul Stewart gave Neilston another vital win over 10-man Shotts Bon Accord as they continue their promotion push at Hannah Park on Saturday.

Neilston started well in difficult conditions but it was the home side that had the first opportunity of the first-half when Cross found Aitken inside the box but Tiropoulos produced an excellent block to deny him.

On the half hour Tiropoulos produced a fine stop to deny Shotts’ Maguire taking lead from Cross pass.

Eight minutes later, Cross was off again, setting up Maguire again, whose shot well saved by the visiting keeper.

Neilston brought new signing McKinlay on for McDade during the interval with Docherty moving to right back.

The Farmer’s Boys opened the second half strongly and Stewart was denied by Murdoch.

Minutes later they opened the scoring when Fletcher cross found Curren at the back post who slotted into the bottom corner.

Shotts were reduced to 10 men five minutes later when Eadie was shown a straight red card for an over the ball challenge on Diack.

But the hosts got an equaliser five minutes later when Cross set up Aitken, but this time the effort was blocked for a corner. Martin’s corner fell to Sutherland, who slotted home from the edge of the box.

Neilston regained the lead in the 68th minute when Curran set up Stewart who drilled his shot into the bottom corner.

They had further chances to increase their lead but Murdoch saved from McBryde, then Fletcher.

At the other end, a Martin corner was played short to McKee and the full back fired wide from outside the box.

Neilston’s McKinlay should have finished the match as a contest a minute later, but pulled his shot wide.

Minutes later Shotts drew level when a long clearance from Murdoch, got the Neilston defence out and Evans ran through to slot the ball home.

Neilston secured the win in injury time when Payne picked out Stewart inside the box before he drilled his shot low in the bottom corner to send the band of supporters home happy back to Brig O’Lea.
