A Barrhead martial arts club picked up silverware at the ISKA Open Scottish Kickboxing Championships this weekend in Dundee.

Liam McMillan and I-Kick Martial Arts instructor Ross Penman were in the medals on Saturday, as they both came away with great success in the divisions and fights.

Liam dominated his events, as he won two gold medals for both his Points Fighting and Continuous Sparring Divisions - stopping his opponent in the final of the continuous sparring with a strong sidekick to the body that ended the match.

Penman said: “It was the best I’ve seen him to date in the kickboxing world. I was pleased to see him put together and successfully implement some of the things we’ve been working on with him lately at the club.”

Penman himself also picked up a gold medal as well as two bronze medals in different weight divisions.

He added: “I took gold medal in my own weight category for Continuous Sparring, and also moved-up in weight for my points fighting categories successfully earning two bronze medals from these divisions too.”
