TWO goals in the last 10 minutes gave Neilston another vital win against Lanark and another three points towards their promotion to the Super League First Division.

The Farmer’s Boys made two changes to the side that faced Dunipace midweek with Robbie McNamara and Bryan Smith replacing the unavailable Martin McInnes and Martin Hughes who dropped to the bench.

It was the home side that threatened first in the seventh minute when Ryan Docherty shot high and wide.

At the other end Derek Kennedy saw his header cleared off the line and from the resulting corner Neilston opening the scoring in the 14th minute when Paul Young blasted home the rebound from six yards after the first effort was blocked.

Lanark forced a couple of corners but failed to capitalise on each occasion. Neilston enjoyed a decent spell of pressure and went close on two occasions when Paul Young, who caused the home side problems all the day, saw his headers go just by the post from James Canning corners.

Neilston suffered a blow at the start of the second half when Stephen Docherty went off injured after he collided with the post to be replaced by Martin Hughes.

Derek Kennedy missed a great chance to double the lead when he put his shot wide after Adam Nisanci played him in but the home side levelled midway through the second half when Danny Burns slotted home after rounding the keeper. Lanark took the lead 10 minutes later when a swift counter attack caught the Ton defence out and Daniel Burns ran down the left to square for sub Con Boyle at the back post to tap in.

However, their lead lasted only two minutes when sub Robert Campbell crossed for Martin Hughes to head home.

In the dying minutes, Neilston got the winner when Matthew McLean fired home the rebound after Adam Nisanci turned his marker to see his shot saved by Daniel Toban which sparked celebrations among the bench and travelling fans.
