With the cost of living crisis making all our purse strings tighter, many are turning to popular social media platforms to find quick cost-cutting hacks to save money.

One such "unethical" hack has been warned against by the experts over at YourParkingSpace and involves using a new ticket to make it seem as though you did not park there for enough time to be charged.

The video on TikTok has gained over 218,000 views and tells users to take advantage of the grace period most parking garages have when drivers collect their tickets.

"However, there are many obstacles for this hack to work, as many garages scan your license plate with the ticket and weigh your vehicle with a sensor at the exit, so no vehicle means no new ticket.

"Cameras can also be used to provide evidence of how long your car has been in the garage, so if you are caught, you will end up paying a fine.

"This failed parking garage dodge could also prove more expensive than paying a simple parking fine as you can be taken to court under the Fraud act - likely costing you hundreds of pounds in a hefty fine.

"We strongly advise against copying this hack as not only is it unethical but it also leaves you in a vulnerable position where you’re likely to have to pay a bigger fee.

"Paying for parking may feel like an inconvenience at the time, but will cause you a lot fewer problems in the long run as opposed to following risky TikTok trends.

"If you’re looking for alternative parking, head to YourParkingSpace website to find off-site convenient and affordable parking for your journey.”
