A major investment has been announced to benefit residents of an East Renfrewshire residential estate.

The council has announced that £350,000 will be invested in the Craigheads area of Barrhead to enhance resident wellbeing.

This funding is designed to deliver targeted improvements to homes, the surrounding environment and local services.

Craigheads is a residential estate made up of social housing, privately rented homes and owner-occupied properties.

It has faced longstanding environmental, social and wellbeing challenges.

The regeneration approach will include physical upgrades, service redesign and community-led activities.

Initial work is set to begin in April, including targeted repairs, one-off close cleans, environmental improvements, improved signage and securing communal doors.

A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council said: "This investment marks a significant step in improving the quality of life for residents in Craigheads.

"By combining important property upgrades with wider environmental and community initiatives, we’re taking a coordinated, place-based approach that addresses longstanding challenges and supports a healthier, more vibrant neighbourhood where everyone can flourish.

"We’re committed to working closely with residents and local partners to shape the future of Craigheads together, ensuring our communities can thrive.

"Their insight and experience are vital to ensuring these improvements deliver real, lasting benefits for residents, and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved as this work progresses."

Craighead residents will be kept informed about the project in writing.
