1. St Mark’s girl’s pageant dream

Barrhead News: A Barrhead youngster hoped to become the next international star of a global beauty pageant. Following in the footsteps of the town’s own beauty queen Fern Maxwell, seven-year-old Mirren Kelly was set to take to the stage to compete for a place in the UK finals in Blackpool. 

2. Barrhead pupils record 'best ever' exam results

Barrhead News: Barrhead schools celebrated a record-breaking year of exam results.

3. Rain fails to spoil the party as footballers chip in for charity

Barrhead News: The heavens opened above the Cowan Park but charity footballers still managed to raise almost £250. Rain poured down relentlessly for much of the day as dedicated volunteers took to the pitch to help raise cash for Enable Scotland.

4. Magnificent seven ride into Arthurlie

Barrhead News: Arthurlie boss Gavin Duncan brought his summer signing spree to seven players with a further two additions. Conner McGlinchey from Peterhead and Michael White from Petershill were the latest additions to an Arthurlie squad which had undergone an extreme makeover since the season’s end.

5. Christie wins Fereneze Open

Barrhead News: Darren Christie of Barrhead shot a stunning 68 to beat a field of over 70 participants to win the Fereneze Open gross event for the first time.

6. Neilston Juniors come out on top in Hugh Blair Cup

Barrhead News: Three teams gathered at the Brig O’Lea for a celebration of local football. Neilston, Barrhead under-19s and Neilston Amateurs came together for the Hugh Blair Tournament.
