The local community is being asked to share their views on the new £56m Eastwood Leisure Centre plans.

Following approval for the project from councillors, an updated version of the proposed facility has been unveiled, with two public exhibitions set to offer residents the chance to voice their thoughts.

The exhibitions will be held at the current Eastwood Leisure Centre on May 30 and June 20 from 4pm to 8pm.

Residents can expect a range of display boards illustrating the proposed facility's outline designs.

The design team will also be present to answer any questions.

The plans for the new space include a leisure centre, theatre, and library in Eastwood Park.

Owen O'Donnell, council leader, said: “Following the feedback already received, the project team has worked hard to develop an updated plan for the new Eastwood Leisure Centre.

"These consultation events will give people the chance to view what is proposed and it’s important that as many people as possible get involved and submit their views.

"I look forward to seeing this project progress to the next stage.”

The leisure centre has been designed to include a 25m pool, a separate training pool, a games hall, a fitness suite, two fitness studios, a spin studio, and a cafe.

After the consultation, the proposals will be submitted for planning permission.

Construction is expected to start in mid-2025, if approved, with completion aimed for summer 2028 with the current leisure centre and theatre continuing to operate throughout the construction.

Comments on the proposals can be made at the event or by emailing the project agents at david@northplan.co.uk by June 28.
