A TEAM from Isobel Mair School will take on the Kiltwalk this weekend.

Around 25 parents, staff and friends will walk 23 miles in a day, with others tackling the 14-mile Big Stroll or three-mile Wee Wander.

The walkers have set themselves a £5,000 fundraising target to build an outdoor learning space at the school, in Newton Mearns, which is attended by children with additional support needs.

A string of companies are supporting the team, including Connelly Security Systems, Ça Va Brasserie, The Tolbooth Bar, PC Panic, Likit Products, TNC Electrical Services, The Mum Club ER, Corsehouse Commercials, The Glasgow Nanny and Dumfries firm Waugh's.

Mairi Watkins, co-chair of the parent council, said: "The school's current garden, though cherished, is in dire need of rejuvenation.

"The importance of such a sensory garden cannot be overstated. An improved outdoor space will serve as a hands-on learning environment where gardening and plant care activities foster the development of both gross and fine motor skills.

"Crucially, the time spent outdoors in the garden will ensure that students benefit from fresh air and sunlight – essential elements for overall physical health and wellbeing."
