A celebration of the achievements of young people helped by a local charity has taken place at the Scottish Parliament.

A number of students who have been supported by Young Enterprise Scotland were present at Holyrood to share their experiences with MSP's during an exhibition.

Founded in 1992, the charity, headquartered in Thornliebank, has established a large number of financial and enterprise educational and development programmes for young people throughout Scotland.

The programmes are designed to aid school and college experiences and the charity is “centred upon the four principal values of integrity, enthusiasm, creativity and collaboration”.

Jackson Carlaw, former Scottish Conservative Party Leader, sponsored the exhibition event.

He said: “Young Enterprise Scotland has played a critical role in the lives of so many young people across the nation and the organisation provides a range of fantastic opportunities.

“It was a real pleasure to sponsor this key exhibition at the Scottish Parliament and to allow MSP colleagues to hear from young people who have excelled through the programmes offered by the charity.

“In the three decades of its existence, Young Enterprise Scotland has become firmly established as a key organisation in supporting young people to make the most of their talents and the charity is a credit to Eastwood.”

The charity has a longstanding record of supporting young people gain vital experience, by providing a core learning experience to enhance the skills, attitudes and competencies of 3274 young people.
