Detectives are on the hunt for information about four cars which are believed to be linked to housebreaking incidents in East Renfrewshire and beyond.

Between Monday, November 20 and Saturday, February 3, a series of properties were targeted in Newton Mearns and in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire.

While there is no evidence to confirm the cases are linked, there are similarities to each, and many resulted in valuable personal items being stolen.

Detective Inspector Ross Jamieson said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity involving the vehicles mentioned.

“I appreciate many of these crimes took place some time ago, but I would ask people to think back and consider if they saw anything odd or suspicious.”

The four vehicles in question are a black BMW Series 1, a white Volkswagen Golf, a black VW Golf, and a grey Audi RS3.

The other areas targeted along with Newton Mearns were Robroyston, Maryhill, Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Hogganfield, Garthamlock, Kelvindale, Jordanhill, Govanhill, Nitshill, and Darnley.

All of the incidents occurred during the late afternoon or early evening.

“We are keeping an open mind about whether these incidents are linked and there are significant similarities between each of the crimes which indicates they could be connected,” added Detective Inspector Jamieson.

If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
