Barrhead News: A Barrhead workshop made the finals of the Local Government Chronicle Awards in the ‘team of the year’ category.

The Melo Velo Club, a unique cycle and repair project, was set up by service users at the Barrhead Centre - a day centre for adults with additional support needs.

Barrhead News: A food bank staffed by adults with additional support needs opened its doors in Thornliebank.

Its introduction saw kind-hearted service users at Thornliebank Resource Centre start making up food parcels, handing them out and working in the centre’s café to serve hot drinks to those who need them. 

Barrhead News: A spectacular performance of a classic musical was put on at Eastwood Theatre.

St Luke’s High School pupils provided a polished, youngster-friendly version of cult hit Grease.

Our photographer was on hand to catch the kids in full dress before the performance.

Barrhead News: Detailed plans for the new Barrhead High School were laid out for all to see.

In an event at Barrhead’s Council Offices, residents dropped in to view artist’s impressions and architect plans, as well as put their questions to East Renfrewshire Council officers.

Barrhead News: Temperatures were struggling to climb above zero when 20 hardy souls braved the chill to take in some of the beauty of Barrhead.

Rangers at Dams to Darnley led a twenty-strong crowd of walkers around the Barrhead Dams after setting off from Balgraystone Road.

On their two hour walk they took in everything from waterfalls to hardy winter wildlife, including some spectacular species of birds.

Barrhead News: A crack team of housing workers were busy changing Barrhead for the better.

The £500,000, award-winning ‘mixed tenure improvement scheme’ was working to breathe new life into shared blocks across the area, with nearly 100 homes in Barrhead and Neilston benefitting.
