Green bins will then be collected on Sunday, December 24 and Sunday, December 31 (New Year's Eve).

The last brown bin collection of the year will take place December 22 with this service resuming from Saturday, January 6.

Speaking of the newly announced festive bin collection dates, Convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, Cllr Michelle Campbel, said: “I want to thank our collection teams for the service they provide throughout the year which often takes place in difficult weather conditions, and for their continued work over the festive period.

“There will be no collections on Christmas or New Year’s Day to ensure our teams can spend time with their friends and families, so your collection will move slightly if you are due a collection on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. Please check in advance so you are aware of your new date.

“We know that at this time of year that there is more rubbish collected than normal with wrapping paper, packaging and leftover food, so please ensure you separate your items, recycle as much as possible and use all your bins to ensure you have enough space."
