Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to look at what was happening in the area 10 years ago.
We delved into the Barrhead News archives to pick out some of the stories from over a decade ago.
Here are some photographs from our edition which was published on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.
Do you remember these stories or spot any familiar faces?
1. A new frontline emergency service was established by brave volunteers in Neilston and Uplawmoor. A community first response team was set up by residents committed to dedicating their own time to be the first on the scene of an emergency in and around the rural surroundings of both villages.
2. At a special award ceremony, the hard work and dedication of around 50 East Renfrewshire home support workers, homecare supervisors, social care workers, social workers, managers and administration support workers was recognised.
3. Fun-loving pupils helped to spread some festive cheer at a Barrhead school. Pupils had a merry good time at Springhill and Auchenback Primary indulging in famous party games such as pass the parcel and musical chairs. The children also shimmied to some upbeat Christmas songs.
4. A Neilston man turned his big birthday bash into a huge fundraiser for the village war memorial campaign. Together with family and friends Basil Watt collected more than £1300 for a cause very close to his heart. His great uncle, also Basil Watt, was one of the 140 brave men from Neilston who fell in the Great War and was set to be honoured on the memorial.
5. Pupils at Neilston Primary whipped up a storm when the Cooking Bus stopped off at the school. The youngsters showed off the fruits of their labour after rustling up a handful of delicious but healthy dishes on board.
6. Neilston midfielder Adam Nisanci said his side were desperate to get back on the pitch as they aimed to reclaim a promotion spot, having only played one league tie since mid-November.
