While all six are hoping to find some new toys, games and books, they are also excited about the chance to spend quality time with their loved ones and enjoy some delicious food.

Barrhead News:

Everyone at The Barrhead News wishes pupils and staff at Neilston Primary and schools across East Renfrewshire a very merry Christmas and all the best for the new year when it arrives.

Thalia Mariner

Barrhead News:

Thalia is keen to make the most of Christmas day by waking up at "the crack of dawn", having some breakfast and then opening her presents.

The artistic and creative primary five is hoping Santa will bring her some pastel highlighters for drawing and highlighting things.

A big fan of the Harry Potter series, she would also like some of the J.K Rowling books to be waiting for her under the tree.

The eight-year-old's favourite way to spend Christmas is by watching festive classic Elf while drinking hot chocolate and marshmallows.

She is also looking forward to eating lots at Christmas dinner.

Isla Menzies

Barrhead News:

For Isla, the best part of Christmas is seeing family and watching a movie together.

She is therefore very excited about continuing an important family tradition this year - going to her gran's and watching Polar Express with her loved ones.

This year will be a little bit different for the primary six though as she will start celebrating Christmas early on the 24th as her mum is working on Christmas day.

The ten-year-old is also looking forward to wearing festive pyjamas and opening presents.

On her list this year is a smartwatch and something she loves - candles. Her favourite part of Christmas dinner is the yummy Yorkshire puddings.

"I hope it snows because it never snows on Christmas and Christmas is meant for snow," she said.

Leah English

Barrhead News:

Leah plans to wake up bright and early at 6am on the big day and is looking forward to seeing family that she does not see very often.

She is also excited about going to her gran's for soup, a typical Christmas dinner and dessert.

The primary six can't wait to see what Santa has waiting for her under the tree, to open her presents and to start playing with the gifts she receives.

"My favourite part of Christmas is opening the presents, I can't lie", she told the Barrhead News.

At the top of Leah's Christmas list is a PlayStation 5 and stocking fillers such as fluffy socks.

The ten-year-old is also hoping for some skincare items, make-up and Nike Pro shorts to wear to gymnastics.

For her, the best food on Christmas day is the Yorkshire puddings.

Kenzie McLucas

Barrhead News:

The best part of the festivities for Kenzie is "definitely opening the presents".

While opening presents she likes to open the small ones first because these are usually "the more expensive ones".

For Christmas, the creative nine-year-old is hoping to receive Posca Pens, a type of paint marker, and 500 pieces of paper.

She would also like an iPad, iPad case, five Rainbow High Dolls and sweeties, as well as a toy for her nine-month-old Shih Tzu puppy called Teddy.

Her favourite festive movie is Home Alone and her favourite part of Christmas dinner is the Yorkshire puddings and gravy. "They are so good," she told the Barrhead News.

The primary five pupil is also looking forward to eating some yummy chocolate and ice cream, as well as relaxing while playing Roblox and other games, and watching YouTube.

Zion McAdam

Barrhead News:

Christmas will be extra special for Zion and his family this year as it will be the first one in his new house - and it's set to be a busy one with lots of family coming over from his mum's side.

The primary six is looking forward to hopefully getting a petrol remote control car to use in the garden.

He is also excited to see what presents his young cousin, aged two, gets.

For Zion, the best festive movie is Elf. On Christmas day, however, he says they usually watch a clay-animated film such as Chicken Run or Robbie the Reindeer.

This year though they might watch Chicken Run's newly released sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.

The ten-year-old is also looking forward to eating some yummy roast chicken on December 25.

He is hoping for some snow so he can make the most of his massive garden and enjoy a snowball fight.

Jack Findlay

Barrhead News:

Jack says he is really looking forward to Christmas day because everyone will be in the festive spirit.

For him this is the best part of Christmas, more so than even the presents and the delicious food, which he describes as "amazing on Christmas".

This year his family will be enjoying some beef wellington before getting together with family and friends to eat dessert, pull crackers and play some Christmas-themed classic childhood games.

The primary six's favourite festive movie is probably the first Home Alone, which he appreciates for "the story, its concept and the comedy".

At the top of his Christmas list is lots of computer games such as Topple Tactics and Castle Crashers and some books such as Bunny vs Monkey.

While he is looking forward to getting presents, the caring ten-year-old will also be thinking of others and the difficulties they are facing in the cold weather.

"It's the season of giving and I hope that homeless people find shelter and warmth this Christmas," he told the Barrhead News.
