A FORMER hotel could be demolished after a fire broke out earlier this year.

A planning application was submitted to pull down the Carnbooth House Hotel in Carmunnock.

As previously reported at the time, on August 17, the B-listed building was engulfed in flames.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but the nearby roads were shut for several hours as 999 crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Police Scotland confirmed a few days later that the fire was being treated as deliberate.

Now, documents reveal the council's plan to knock down the site, parts of which, it said is in "precarious condition" after suffering "substantial damage".

Papers also state that the flames "completely destroyed the interior and roof of the property leaving only masonry walls standing".
