Ten teenagers have completed a special initiative at Clarkston Community Fire Station.
The young people participated in a fire skills course and gained important life skills, including safety, discipline, respect, CPR, communication and teamwork.
The course, in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council (ERC), involved five days of activities and input from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
Area Commander David McCarrey, the local SFRS senior officer for East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, told the Barrhead News: "Education remains one of the most effective ways for firefighters and our partners to engage with communities and share vital safety guidance.
"The type of developmental course recently held at Clarkston Community Fire Station shares transferable skills with young people which can ultimately support them in future employment or further education.
"Congratulations to all of the young people involved, I hope they enjoyed the experience.
"They were a credit to their schools and their families.”
AC McCarrey also took the opportunity to thank local team SFRS team and partners including ERC, Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service for their commitment in supporting this positive youth engagement.
