Neilston Artists (NA) are hosting a weekend exhibition at The Bank Cafe in Main Street.

The event is taking place this Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5 from 11.30am to 3.30pm.

It will provide an opportunity for people to come along and join members for tea, coffee, a blether and to learn about the group, as well as seeing some of their current works.

Joyce Wallace, NA’s treasurer, told the Barrhead News: “In roughly 2020 or 2021, we had our 20th anniversary which was really good to have and we had a weekend exhibition similar to the one we're having just now.

“That's why we decided to have another one because it was really good to have folks come in and just have a cup of tea or coffee, a blether and have a look at the artwork."

The group, which welcomes those aged 18 plus, meets in the Glen Halls in Neilston on Thursday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

Those coming along work on their own mediums and have varied levels of experience.

“It’s really an art group and not a class, although we do have occasional workshops or a demonstrator coming along to show us how to do something,” explained Joyce.

“Occasionally we’ll organise outings to do something, maybe plein air (painting) or visiting an exhibition.

“It's a really friendly group and if you're interested in your own art then by all means come along and join us.

“I'm sure you'll find it valuable. Some nights we work really hard and some nights we blether a lot but it's about coming together and learning from one another.”

Those interested in the group can come along at the usual meeting time and give it a go for a while before they decide if they would like to join.

If people would like to chat with the group before attending, they are asked to contact neilstonartists@gmail.com.
