Members of a popular youth group have been presented with the President's Badge during a special event in Barrhead.

A total of 17 young men from the Boys' Brigade were honoured during the recent gathering at St Andrew's Church.

Work carried out by the members to achieve their President's Badge included attending a non-residential weekend and completing 10 hours of practical service for others.

The event was attended by Reverend Steven Henderson, Battalion Chaplain, who described the recipients as being "a credit to themselves, their families and their communities, being based on a sure foundation which are now steadfast for the future."

Colonel Peter McCarthy, Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, said the young men were now "the role models for the next generation, both in the Brigade and in their communities."

A spokesperson for the Boys' Brigade added: "We look forward to the contribution these ‘role models’ will make to their communities in giving their time and efforts to others in their challenge to reach the next level – achieving their King’s Badge in 2024."
