1. The team behind an innovative community project in Barrhead celebrated scooping a £100,000 prize pot. The Glasgow Road Waterworks initiative was named Grow Wild’s top Scottish community growing project.

2. There was a packed house when the Barrhead-born and bred chief medical officer for Scotland Sir Harry Burns was in town to give a speech about why the early years are key to giving children the best start in life. Sir Harry talked to locals about what it’s like to grow up in Barrhead and asked their views on how the council and the community can work together to make it the best place in the world to raise a family.

3. Nicole Dempster, a member of the Scottish Youth Parliament was set to join more than 300 other elected youth parliament members from across the UK at a debate in the House of Commons. She was one of just 20 young people from Scotland chosen to take part.

4. The Neilston Community Repair group lent a helping hand at Madras Family Centre after louts got into the grounds and damaged play equipment plus an eco-friendly green-house. The nursery soon began to look like an eco-haven thanks to the efforts of Matt Marshall and the half dozen volunteers who waded in on the project.

5. Pudsey would have been proud of the youngsters at Carlibar Primary as they did their bit for Children in Need and the Save the Children charity. Youngsters dropped their usual uniform for multi-coloured onesies of all shapes and sizes in aid of the annual November drive.

6. Youngsters from the McCready Family centre in Barrhead got on their wellies for a charitable toddle. Dozens of tots and doting parents went for the walk around Carlibar Park in aid of Macmillan Cancer Trust.
