1. A new skill was set to rolled out across East Renfrewshire schools following a bright idea by a Barrhead teacher. Michelle Fleming, depute head at Carlibar Primary introduced orienteering to the school earlier in the year. It proved a major success – with other schools in the area looking to do the same.

2. Massive concrete basins that once held thousands of litres of sewage slurry were set to become flower gardens thanks to residents prepared to clean up the former Scottish Water sewage works on Glasgow Road.

3. St Luke’s High School Annual Awards Evening was held and saw students, parents, carers, staff and community partners gather to celebrate the academic and wider achievements of students in the senior school.

4. There were some spooky goings on at Barrhead High School. The East Renfrewshire Council school holiday programme saw dozens of kids get dressed up in the scariest and wackiest costumes they could.

5. Senior pupils at St Luke’s High school joined campus officer Gordon Sweeney to lend a hand at the Big Neilston Tidy up.

6.  A Barrhead events company specialising in humanist wedding and baby naming ceremonies scooped a business support prize worth tens of thousands of pounds. Fuze Ceremonies was named the most promising start-up in the LeSL enterprise Challenge.
