Join us as we take a trip down memory lane to reminisce about what was happening in the area 10 years ago.
We delved into the Barrhead News archives to pick out some of the stories from over a decade ago.
Here are some photographs from our edition which was published on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.
Do you remember these stories or spot any familiar faces?
1. TWO Barrhead dancers were jumping for joy after they got lessons from one of their idols. Jayne Arthur Dance School pupils Alyson Lamond, 30, and her neice Lauren Brogan, 14, won an exclusive dance class with ex-Pussycat Doll and Got to Dance judge Kimberly Wyatt. The duo scooped the award after their incredible fundraising efforts for Comic Relief came to the attention of bosses at Davina McCall’s #twittermillion event earlier in the year.
2. Youngsters in Neilston were going all out to bring a sheen to the village. Dozens of pupils from St Thomas’ Primary took part in a Make a Difference programme that saw them getting their hands dirty in an effort to clean up their area.
3. An incredible project grown from humble beginnings was attracting hundreds of people to Barrhead's Include Me 2 Club every week. Up to 170 people were packing into the town’s Columba Club on Tuesdays for a one of a kind group for over 18s with extra support needs.
4. More than £30,000 was being pumped into community groups in the latest raft of grant awards. Much needed cash was set to be injected into a Barrhead scout group and the Neilston War Memorial association thanks to the boost from Whitelee Wind Farm.
5. Chiefs at East Renfrewshire Council went ‘back to the floor ’to mark Customer service Week 2013. Depute chief executive Caroline Innes and other top officers spent time listening into calls from the public and witnessing local residents signing up for a council house.
6. A drop in day entitled “Know Your rights — How Welfare reform Affects You" was set to take place in the Auchenback Resource Centre, featuring guest speakers from as far as edinburgh.
