A residential and nursing home in Barrhead has received a positive inspection report.

One inspector from the Care Inspectorate carried out an unannounced visit of Millview Care Home in Carlibar Road on August 15 and 16.

Five categories were rated during the inspection with leadership, the staff team, the setting and 'how well care and support is planned' being marked as 4 meaning good.

This was on a six point scale where 1 is unsatisfactory and 6 is excellent.

For ‘How well do we support people’s wellbeing?’, the care home received a score of 5, meaning very good.

Among the key messages of the report were that the home had a relaxed and comfortable feeling, that residents had a choice of meaningful activities and that staff related well to all people who received support.

It also found that managers were visible and approachable to staff, people receiving support and families.

Finally, it was reported that there was an ongoing process of redecoration at the facility, which is registered for 41 older people, some of whom are frail and elderly and some of whom may have dementia.

The provider of the service is Advinia Care Homes Limited and there were 37 people living in the home at the time of the inspection.

The accommodation is on two levels, divided into two self-contained units, with each unit containing a lounge/dining room and kitchen area.

All bedrooms have ensuite toilets and two of the rooms have ensuite showers.

The home also has an enclosed garden for people using the service.

To prepare for the inspection, the Care Inspectorate reviewed information about the service, including previous inspection findings, registration information, information submitted by the service and intelligence gathered since the last inspection.

In making their evaluations of the service, they spoke with five people using the service and four of their family.

They also spoke with seven members of staff and management, observed practice and daily life, reviewed documents and spoke with visiting professionals.

A spokesperson for Millview said: "We are delighted with the results of the latest Care Inspectorate report of Millview Care Home in Barrhead.
