1. Primary school youngsters across Barrhead learned about the inner workings of Parliament. MSP Hugh Henry visited P6 youngsters to talk about his role and what goes on everyday in Holyrood.

2. People in Barrhead were urged to vote online for their local community project, the Water Works, to win Grow Wild funding.

3. High school pupils in Barrhead held a porridge day for Mary’s Meals. Charitable youngsters held the fundraising day in aid of the charity which helps schools in some of the poorest country’s around the world feed their pupils.

4. Street theatre style performance came to Barrhead as part of the year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (MHAFF). Scenes, songs and monologues of real stories and fiction were acted out in the foyer of the Barrhead Health and Care Centre.

 5. A local duo were amongst a group of young people who received awards at a glamourous event at the Scottish Parliament. Barrhead’s Emma Alford and Tammy Reynolds from Neilston, members of the Big ShoutER team, were given Dynamic Youth Awards for their project tackling the issue of tobacco use.

6. A nursery garden trashed by vandals was transformed thanks to parents and volunteers. An unofficial hit squad brought the outdoor play area at Carlibar Family Centre in Barrhead back to life again – to the delight of its young pupils.
