1. The 1st Barrhead Scout Group was awarded a Whitelee Wind Farm Fund grant of £30,000 towards phase one of the renovation of their dilapidated scout hall in Arthurlie Street.

2. Barrhead bankers swapped ATM’s and cash desks for paint brushes and brooms. As part of the ‘Day to Make a Difference’ programme, 13 managers from Bank of Scotland visited ACCORD charity to give a Paisley store a makeover.

3. Talented Barrhead singer-songwriter Dee McLaren released his debut solo album ‘Up From the Ashes: The Ayrial Sessions’. At the launch as part of his solo project, titled ‘Kings of Crows’, the former Ayrial star revealed he has been working on the 14 songs, featured on the CD, since 2005.

4. The number of youngsters signing up for athletics across Barrhead soared thanks to a tie-up with East Renfrewshire Council.Barrhead News:

5. Neilston's backroom team was bolstered with the addition of two ex-players. Kevin Fraser and Robert Graham joined Andy Whiteford, David Wilson and Denis Connaghan on the touchline.

6. Stars from Arthurlie Bowling club toasted success after teams from the club won both the district mixed final and the ladies fours final.
