East Renfrewshire MP Kirsten Oswald visited a grassroots football club to hear from volunteers about their achievements and community impact.
Giffnock Soccer Centre (GSC), who have a new home at GSC Auldhouse, has had a string of recent successes.
Their Ladies Walking Football team were victorious in last year’s Scottish Cup, while the senior team recently joined the West of Scotland League Division Four.
The 2005s team, meanwhile, were crowned champions of the Paisley Johnstone and District Division 1 League last season.
Ms Oswald told the Barrhead News: “Playing football has obvious benefits such as improved physical and mental wellbeing, and the comradery that goes with being part of a team.
“I’d like to congratulate everyone involved at the GSC on their continued success and wish them well as they continue to grow.”
GSC’s, whose mission is ‘football for all’, runs mens, womens, disability, veteran and walking teams for those aged 18 plus as well as youth and development teams, and fun football for tots.
Currently more than 1,400 players are involved in the club with the ages of those taking part ranging from four to 84.
At Westminster, Ms Oswald lodged an Early Day Motion (EDM) to mark the victory of the 2005s in the league and to note the continued success of GSC.
“I was very pleased to have tabled an EDM commending the 2005s and all involved with the club on their success, " she added.
"It was brilliant to hear more about their ambitious plans for the future."
