1. A Barrhead woman was preparing to represent Scotland at a prestigious world pageant event. Fern Maxwell was one of two contestants from Scotland heading to the International Face of the Globe Competition at Disneyland Paris.

2. Donning denim for a good cause, youngsters at Cross Arthurlie Primary took part in a national awareness campaign, Jeans for Genes Day, which aimed to raise awareness of genetic disorders in children.

3. It was bye-bye to blaes at Uplawmoor Tennis Club as nostalgic members took the chance to play on their old courts for the last time. Contractors were due to move in to start work on a contract to rip up the 50-year-old red blaes courts and install new all-weather playing surfaces.

4. A Barrhead community project was shortlisted for a chance to win £100,000 of Big Lottery Funding to transform the former sewage treatment works on Glasgow Road into an area of natural beauty.

5. A vote on eleven proposed projects by Neilston Community Council took place. A ballot box was left open in the library alongside details of projects that included everything from wildflower meadow gardens to new flowerbeds in the village centre.

6. Top chefs and food lovers descended on one of the biggest food festivals in Scotland. Thousands of people made their way to Rouken Glen Park for East Renfrewshire’s food bonanza FeastRen.
