EAST Renfrewshire Council has published the results of a vote on new play park equipment.

The local authority asked residents which pieces they would like to see at the new play area at Thornliebank Playing Fields and at the upgraded play area at McDiarmid Park in Barrhead.

To fund the installation, funding has been secured from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Scottish Government.

A total of £120,000 has been received for the Thornliebank project, including £50,000 to install accessible equipment, fencing and seating areas.

A total of £90,000 in total, meanwhile, has been received for the Barrhead project, including £40,000 to install accessible equipment, fencing and seating areas.

In both surveys, local people chose their favourites from three different groups of equipment.

The council has promised residents it will buy as many of their favourite items within the allotted budgets.

It is hoped that the works will be completed and the play parks will be ready by March 2024.

The work will be put out to tender by the end of this month to companies who install/upgrade play parks who will then submit costs and designs to carry out the work.

The proposed timeline also states that in October, the upgrade of the playpark will be awarded to the company that submits the best design within budget to complete the work.
