1. A Barrhead dad picked the winning name for the town's new state-of-the-art centre. "Barrhead Foundry" was chosen from hundreds of entries after East Renfrewshire Council invited residents to come up with a name for the new centre. Behind the suggestion was David Bell, who chose it to reflect the town’s proud industrial heritage.

2. A community safety day at Auchenback Resource Centre (ARC) was a colourful bonanza of face painting, fire engines and larger-than-life cartoon characters.

3. More than 25 youngsters at Carlibar Primary worked on their batting, bowling and fielding at a cricket masterclass.

4. With a fresh new look and almost 1,000 new food lines, a refurbished Barrhead Tesco opened its doors. The red ribbon was cut by the store’s oldest and youngest employees after a £2million refurb.

5. A community-backed cafe in Neilston celebrated 18 months of success. The Bank was bought by the community through the Neilston Development Trust in 2007, after the national bank that had owned the building pulled out of the village.

6. It was Murray mania at the Cowan Park tennis courts in Barrhead when Judy Murray dropped in. Players at the new £82,000 courts took part in the first ever Great British Tennis Weekend.
