East Renfrewshire Council has launched a series of videos highlighting a range of local beauty spots for walking and cycling – ideal for anyone looking for inspiration of things to do over the summer months.

Funded by the UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the project aims to encourage ‘pride in place’ amongst residents.

Presented by walking expert Gillian Craig, who runs the Gillian's Walks website, the series of short video clips showcase what the local authority has to offer for days out.

The videos are complemented by a dedicated webpage with new maps and directions.

Locations profiled in the new film clips include Dams to Darnley, Whitelee Windfarm, Rouken Glen, the Craigie (Duncarnock Fort) and the Neilston Pad.

Councillor Danny Devlin, convener for environment and housing, told the Barrhead News: “We’re really spoiled for choice with so many fantastic places to go walking and cycling locally.

"I would encourage everyone to explore somewhere new in East Renfrewshire over the summer months.

"We also have a great selection of local shops and cafes, so you've got plenty of options for picnic supplies or a treat on the way home.”

Further route maps are available on the council’s website eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/explore.
