COPS have arrested nearly 20 people following disorder at an Aberdeen and Rangers football match.

A total of 18 males, aged between 16 and 34, have been charged following "extensive" police enquiries.

The disorder took place in and around Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday, April 23.

Superintendent Neil McDonald, from Police Scotland’s North East Division, said: “I would like to thank the overwhelming majority of fans and members of the public for their support and behaviour during the fixture.

“Football-related disorder remains utterly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

"We will continue to work with our partners to ensure that those who seek to spoil and disrupt these occasions are dealt with robustly.”

It comes after cops had previously arrested five people in connection with a number of offences on the day of the match.

A Rangers supporters bus allegedly had its windows smashed.

A previous Police Scotland statement read: “Four males, aged between 16 and 24, were arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences around Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday, April 23.

"They are due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

“A further 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with damage caused to a bus on Hutcheon Street, which took place around 6.55pm on the same date.

"He is expected to appear at court at a later date.”
