FIVE youths have been arrested in connection with the alleged serious assault of a man in Wishaw.

At 8pm on Saturday, May 27, cops were informed about the reported assault of the 25-year-old at a fast-food restaurant on Glasgow Road.

999 crews attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment.

Three young males, aged 12, 14 and 15, and two young females, aged 14 and 15, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They have been referred to the Children’s Reporter.

Area Inspector Alan Mulholland said: “We have been responding to issues in and around this location over the past few weeks and a number of interventions have been made to subdue the issue.

"We have also made a number of arrests and will continue to focus on the area to ensure it is safe for everyone to visit and enjoy.”
