SHOPPERS at Silverburn were treated to a “special display” at the weekend to mark the Eurovision finals.

The shopping centre, along with the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB), put on a celebration aiming to highlight Ukraine’s role in the Eurovision finals on Saturday, May 13.

As part of the celebrations, Deputy Conductor of the Glasgow Philharmonic Male Voice Choir and accomplished Ukrainian soprano, Oksana Mavrodii, led a group of 10 talented children displaced by the ongoing conflict as they performed a variety of musical and acrobatic routines in the centre.

Katherine McGinness, Environmental and Community Coordinator at Silverburn, said: “Oksana and the AUGB put an outstanding show on for us, it was a treat and an honour to have them perform for us and we have already received some brilliant feedback from our stores and shoppers alike.

“At Silverburn, we feel passionately about highlighting the diverse community that we welcome through our doors on a daily basis.

“To celebrate Eurovision this year we felt it was only right that we showcase the vast array of Ukrainian talent in our local community, on what would have been their big night in Ukraine.”
