A popular Barrhead restaurant is opening its doors at its new premises today.

Swagath has joined Hurlet House restaurant at 24 Glasgow Road, bringing two restaurants under one roof.

Hurlet House is currently open from 10am to 4pm, while Swagath will be open from 4pm onwards.

Hurlet House was formerly known as Scotch and Rib-Aye Bar and Restaurant before they officially announced their new name and branding this month, while promising to continue serving up customers’ favourite dishes.

In making the switch, Indian restaurant Swagath, which was based in Dovecothall Street, has moved just along the road.

Swagath was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as they worked hard to make the transition as smooth as possible.

In a social media post, they wrote: “We’re thrilled to announce that our new Indian restaurant will be opening its doors at our new premises on May 11, 2023.

“We can’t wait to welcome you to our new premises and share this exciting chapter with you all.

“Thank you for your continued support and loyalty.”

Further explaining the move, they added: “We have moved just 2 mins away to a bigger and better location with over 30 parking spaces.

“Same great taste, new and improved atmosphere.

“Enjoy our authentic cuisine and friendly service in our beautiful new space.”

Bosses at Hurlet House first confirmed the news that Swagath would be joining them on social media in April.

In a post at the time, Hurlet House said: “To all our customers who have supported us over the past three years.

“We have a new local business who will share the premises with us very soon.

“The Swagath Indian Cuisine will be relocating to within our premises. However, we will still be trading each day till 4pm, providing you with our new menu and continuing with your favourites.

“We will still be holding functions throughout the year and will cater for funerals, birthdays, engagements and much more.”
