A PENSIONER was seriously injured during an alleged assault in Neilston at the weekend.
The 70-year-old man was walking in Uplawmoor Road shortly before midnight on Saturday when an incident took place.
Police said he suffered a serious facial injury which required treatment at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, in Paisley.
Inspector Michelle Grant added: "We were called to reports of a disturbance in Uplawmoor Road at 11.55pm on May 6, where a 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault."
Police have urged anyone who has information to come forward.
The 24-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court at a later date.
