Drivers are facing nine months of misery thanks to the part closure of a key East Renfrewshire road.

From Monday, June 5, Mearns Road, in Newton Mearns, will be shut from its junction with the A77 Ayr Road up to the roundabout access to the A726 Glasgow Southern Orbital road.

The closure is anticipated to last until Wednesday, March 6, 2024, to allow the safe operation of Scottish Water pipe rehabilitation works on or near the road.

During this time all vehicles will be restricted except those associated with the works and emergency service vehicles attending an incident.

An alternative route will be available between the A77 Ayr Road, Eaglesham Road and Mearns Road and vice versa.
