The general manager of the Uplawmoor Hotel is urging the community to turn out in numbers to cheer on locals and staff in a charity football match this month.

The game will be held in the park behind the hotel on May 13 with kick-off scheduled for 10am.

A bucket collection will be held to raise funds for Hillhead Charity which helps families and children through food packages and baby packages, as well as personal and learning support.

It also strives to support any local groups who are in need of this to ensure they can keep providing their services to local communities in Scotland.

It is the latest event run by the East Renfrewshire venue to support the charity, which was founded by one of the hotel’s owners James Smith.

Terry, who will be playing in the game, told the Barrhead News: “I am looking forward to it and trying to keep fit for it.

“It will be a fun game, hopefully, a good turnout and a good score for the staff.

“Come along and support the charity and the hotel as well, it is a small community so everything does help.”

Anyone who would like to take part in the match is asked to email events@uplawmoor.co.uk.
