A NEW drop-in service to support women and girls (13+) who have been sexually assaulted, sexually abused, or raped will be held in East Renfrewshire.

The service, which is being run by Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis staff, will be held in Barrhead and Clarkston on the first Wednesday of each month, starting from June 7.

Anyone who attends the drop-ins will be able to receive free and confidential support and if they want, they can also receive one-to-one support sessions.

Sessions are free to attend, and appointments are not needed.

Drop-ins will be held between 9.30am until 12.30pm at Barrhead Health & Care Centre and at Eastwood Health & Care Centre between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

Sharing the drop-in service on social media, East Renfrewshire Council said: "A new drop-in service in East Renfrewshire will provide free and confidential support to women and girls (13+) who have been raped, sexually assaulted or sexually abused, no matter when this has happened in their lives.

"Glasgow & Clyde Rape Crisis staff will provide one-to-one support sessions in a private room at one of our safe locations, at either Barrhead or Eastwood health and care centres.

"There is no need for an appointment, and you can come along to a one-off session or as part of ongoing support.

"A support worker will listen and support you, and she can also signpost you to other organisations and services if you need them."
