THREE groups across East Renfrewshire are set to celebrate the King’s coronation after a welcomed funding boost.

Busby Parish Church, Include Me 2 Club SCIO, and the Walton Court Social Club will all receive a share of funding from The National Lottery to celebrate the coronation in May.

The funding, which ranges from grants of £300 to £10,000 is to support a range of activities across the weekend of May 6 to May 8, with an emphasis on events that bring people together and have a positive impact on the community.

Busby Parish Church will be handed £828 to hold three events between May 5 and May 7 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles.

Include Me 2 Club in Barrhead will receive £8000 to host a family fun day for the King’s coronation, while the Walton Social Club in Giffnock will be handed £700 to hold a coronation party for their elderly residents.

Kate Still, Scotland chair of The National Lottery Community Fund, said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, these events and activities will help to promote community cohesion and engage people from different generations and cultures to get to know one another and share experiences.

“By helping communities celebrate such a historic occasion, we hope to inspire a legacy of positive change that allows people to thrive together.”
