FIRE crews have dealt with three blazes in Neilston this week.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to a fire on Uplawmoor Road after receiving reports of an incident on Thursday, April 20, at 1.11pm.

One appliance was sent out, and firefighters were able to control and extinguish a blaze affecting an area of grass.

Residents reported that the fire took place in the Cowdenhall wood's area.

On top of that incident, another blaze took place in the village on Thursday evening.

The fire service said firefighters attended to reports of "a building" on fire at Main Street.

Two appliances were sent to the scene, but it was grass that was found to be alight. 

Meanwhile, we previously reported about another fire in the village’s Holehouse Brae area on Tuesday, April 18.

Residents reported that the fire took place in the fields in the area, while the fire service confirmed there were no casualties reported from the incident.

The cause of all three blazes has not been confirmed.

A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.11pm on Thursday, April 20, to reports of a fire in the open at Uplawmoor Road, Neilston.

“Operations control mobilised one fire appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting an area of grass.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.

“We were also alerted at 8.42pm on Thursday, April 20, to reports of a building on fire at Main Street, Neilston.

“Operations control mobilised two fire appliances and firefighters extinguished a fire that affected an area of grass.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Police Scotland has said they have no reports of the two fires which took place on Thursday, April 20.
