A FIRE in Neilston last night sparked a response from emergency services.

Firefighters from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended a blaze in the village’s Holehouse Brae area after receiving reports of the incident on Tuesday, April 18 at 7.51pm.

The service sent out one appliance, where they were able to control the fire and extinguish it.

After putting out the fire, they then made the area safe before leaving.

Residents reported that the fire took place in the fields in the area.

There were no casualties reported from the incident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 7.51pm on Tuesday, 18 April to reports of a fire in the open in Neilston, East Renfrewshire.

"Operations control mobilised one fire appliance to the town's Holehouse Brae, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."

The cause of the fire has not been confirmed.
