Neilston returned to action on Saturday after a lengthy lay-off but suffered a 4-2 defeat against Thorniewood United.
The Farmer’s Boys hadn’t played in nearly a month prior to the clash at Robertson Park, having had free weekends and postponements to contend with.
And it was the home team who took control as Daniel Kindlan and Ally Small both found the net in the space of three minutes midway through the first half.
Euan Clark pulled one back for Neilston before the interval but Thorniewood restored their two-goal advantage just before the hour mark.
Cammy Haddow scored from the penalty spot for the visitors to get them back in the contest once more, only for Small to bag his second and Thorniewood’s fourth to seal the points just before full-time.
Next up for Kevin Muirhead’s troops is the visit of Whitletts Victoria this Saturday, with a 2pm kick-off at the Brig O’Lea.
