A CARE home on the outskirts of Barrhead has received a positive inspection report.

Applecross Nursing Home, a family-run care home in Hurlet was visited by two inspectors from the Care Inspectorate in March.

During the unannounced visit, to make their evaluations, they spoke with people using the service, their families, and staff members, as well as observed practice and daily life, reviewed documents and spoke with visiting professionals.

Publishing their findings, the watchdog rated the care home “good” in four areas and “very good” in one.

The inspectors rated the home as good for how well they supported people’s wellbeing, the staff team, the care home’s setting, and how well the care and support is planned.

They were rated very good for their leadership.

The key messages from the watchdog’s report were, the management has a good oversight and a clear idea of what the service can do to improve, and the senior staff structure allows the team to focus their skills where they are best utilised.

They also said the service works well with external professionals and it is responsive to people’s changing needs.

There have been no previous complaints upheld at the care home since its previous inspection report.

Applecross was contacted for a comment.
