A FREE event is to showcase the “amazing” things happening in an East Renfrewshire village.
Eden Project Communities (EDC), supported by the National Lottery, is joining forces with Neilston Saturday Lunch Club and Warm Space to host the Celebrating Communities Roadshow this month.
It will take place in and around Neilston Parish Church on Saturday, April 29, from 11.30am until 3pm, with free food, music, crafts and activities for kids on offer.
The day will be an opportunity for both the community and organisations to connect and “share all the great stuff” going on in the area, and chat to EDC about community issues and how to host a Big Lunch in the community in June.
Jennifer Carroll, EDC Relationship and Communications Lead for Scotland, said: “At Eden Project Communities, we believe the best conversations and ideas can be sparked when food is involved.
“That is why we will be providing free food for everyone at the event.
“The last couple of years has shown a real surge of community spirit and engagement.
“Now that we are beginning to come out of the other side, let's keep nurturing those connections and work together on making our communities more resilient and sustainable.
“Whether you’re new to the area or you’ve been here for years you’ll be made really welcome.”
Some of the organisations already lined up to take part include Incredible Edible Neilston, Acumen, Generations Working Together, cookery school Totnosh, Business Gateway East Renfrewshire, Neilston Parish Church, RAMH, The Folks’ Music Projects, the Scouts, Diane Mitchell School of Music, Roar for Life, Libraries and Culture, Barrhead Housing Association and diversity organisation Pachedu, with more to be announced.
Those who go along will also be able to find out how they can be more involved in their community, get to know their neighbours and perhaps even pick up a new skill through the variety of free activities which will be provided.
